Estate agency boosts charity and soccer team

The team at Town and Country Southern estate agents in Drayton has been busy raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support during 2014.

At the end of December, director Colin Shairp said the total raised for the charity during 2014 was £1,550 – boosted by £250 raised through an impromptu raffle during the firm’s Christmas reception for property professionals and clients.

It has also helped the East Lodge Hurricanes under 8 football team kick off the New Year by sponsoring its shirts, handed over to the team before Christmas.

“We made a commitment to Macmillan as our chosen charity because it was such a help when property consultant Sarah Banks’s father was taken ill,” said Colin.

“We make a donation for every house listed for sale by Town and Country Southern and had already handed over a cheque for more than £600 earlier in the year and the latest cheque means we have sponsored the running of the charity’s information service at Queen Alexandra Hospital for four days during 2014.

“Our support for Macmillan will continue during 2015. Cancer is a disease that touches so many lives and there can hardly be anyone who doesn’t know someone it has affected.

“Fitness is also vital to a healthy life, so supporting young footballers and encouraging them at the start of their lives will hopefully encourage them to continue being active for many years to come. We all know the importance of exercise but too few of us undertake it regularly. Football at this age makes fitness part of a regular routine.”
