What’s in a name? One may wunder!

You may justifiably puzzle at the name of a property for sale in Farlington but when you look at the house number it all adds up.

Googling “Wun Yere” does not provide any sensible answers and will leave you scratching your head. And then you’ll feel an absolute nit for not putting two and two together and arriving at the conclusion that number 365 Havant Road has a name that sounds out the total number of days in a 12 month period.

Perhaps a younger generation raised on phonetics will spot it more quickly but it does cause a chuckle once the problem is solved – and it’s not a conundrum to which Google appears to have an answer, offering instead possible Chinese, Spanish, and even Turkish translation possibilities all of which are irrelevant!

The house offers many attractions, none of which are likely to lose their gloss within the time span of its name, or even long after. It’s a 1930s property with a touch of Arts and Crafts simplicity rather than the more fancy half-timber decoration used on some homes in that era.

There’s a catslide roof descending from the high front gable to first floor eaves height with a dormer to the side above the bathroom. The original integral garage beneath that catslide has now become a study with a utility behind.

The original floorplan has been extended by the addition of a large conservatory added to the rear dining room, now open to the kitchen / breakfast room to create a large and attractive living space with a modern theme. The original sitting room is still separate at the front, behind the ample bay window.

Upstairs there are four bedrooms, two generous doubles accompanied by two amply-proportioned singles and a family bathroom with sufficient space for both a bath and corner shower cubicle.

In the rear garden, the property has a terrace behind the conservatory leading to an artificial lawn and raised terrace with a pool to one side, beyond which is a summer house with a cloakroom and kitchenette.

The house is just yards the Portsmouth side of the border with Havant, enjoying easy access to the A3M and A27 as well as good schools and local facilities.
